While his range is still closer to average theres no doubts in his ability to play the hot corner. A ridiculously impressive track record of hitting along with a well-rounded game and defensive versatility make Vargas one of the more high floor prospects in the game. More patient than he was in previous years, Vientos is still tad too aggressive at the plate, specifically struggling with breaking balls which likely played a large part in the Mets reluctance to promote him. The 22-year-old has always impressed with his feel for the barrel and ability to spray the ball all over the field. The reality is, Moreno would likely be getting every day reps at the big league level for a large portion of MLBs teams right now. Leiters struggles to command the heater this season caused it to play down some, but it has the potential to be a plus pitch or better. Just an 18% chase rate and 17% strikeout rate, Carter is a tough out who will draw plenty of walks. It is worth wondering if moving Ford to centerfield would be better for the longevity of his career and overall value, especially if the 19-year-old isnt providing much value with his glove. The long levers Alcantara possesses helps him generate a ridiculous amount of whip and bat speed, launching homers as far as 452 feet this season while flashing exit velocities as high as 112 mph. Hendersons skillset is similar to that of Bobby Witt Jr.s with perhaps slightly less loud tools and a more advanced approach. Triple-A was a challenge for Rocchio after he shook off a slow start to Double-A with a scorching couple months before his promotion. Mayer posted impressive splits this season, slashing .296/.385/.519 against left-handed pitchers. Like many young, hard-throwing pitchers, Perez can at times be a bit too firm with the offering, but when hes feeling it, it can be a true swing-and-miss pitch to lefties and righties with plenty of late arm side fade. He still needs to improve his defense, but Maki is clearly emerging as a true superstar at the keystone. Starting with the right side, Dominguez cut down his leg kick while quieting/simplifying his hand load. Gassers changeup is the pitch that he goes to a bit more against righties. He is still developing feel for the pitch and has a tendency to miss badly when his mechanics arent in sync. After a fantastic rookie campaign in 2021, Maki built on his success with a .291/.354/.507 slash line in 2022. Due to the presence of Alek Thomas, Carroll has seen action in left in the early going of his MLB career where he is already a plus plus defender. Seeing gains in just about every tool while demonstrating a veterans maturity at the plate, it is easy to see how the 21-year-old has become one of baseballs best prospects. Hences second plus pitch is his his slurvy breaking ball in the low 80s. Rodriguezs repertoire starts with his mid-to-upper 90s fastball with jump. He is a bit position-less. One of the younger players in Double-A, Tovars elite defensive ability and solid feel to hit has allowed him to play above his age-level at every stop. He will need to cut down in the whiffs to reach his All-Star ceiling, though. The third pitch for Jobe is a changeup that has flashed above average in the mid 80s. At the end of the day, the big asset here is Davis bat. He works extremely fast and is a fiery competitor on the mound. The speedy shortstop has improved his base stealing drastically in 2022, getting better jumps and picking more opportune times to run. The high spin fastball averages more than 19 inches of vertical break, causing hitters to frequently swing under it. His coach at East Carolina Cliff Godwin preaches quiet pre-swing moves with the no stride approach in two strike counts. A wunderkind who towers at 6-foot-8, Perez has floored scouts and opponents alike with his ability to command the strike zone and repeat his mechanics on top of his nasty stuff. An arsenal that is led by an exceptional fastball along with three secondaries that boast above average to plus potential, Leiter has the goods to become a frontline starter. The ability to shrink the zone and crush pitches middle in hedges some of Valeras swing and miss concerns and though he seems like he could get exposed against higher quality pitching, Valera has put up solid numbers in Triple-A as a 21-year-old. Wood has a quiet upright set up, with simple pre-swing moves that are easier for him to repeat with his long levers. The 23-year-old is a physical hitter with a thick lower half and does not require much movement to get into his explosive rotational power. Vientos crushed fastballs to a 1.010 OPS this season compared to a dreadful .447 OPS against breaking balls. Mead made the majority of his starts at the hot corner this season, but still saw action in 20 games at second.
